Rayner and Promptly Bring AI Patient Education to US Eye Clinics

New software integration aims to simplify patient onboarding, improve communication, and reduce administrative work in ophthalmology practices

London, 27 October 2026 – Preparing for eye surgery can be overwhelming for patients. They may need to understand medical procedures, follow medication instructions, complete consent forms, and remember recovery guidelines. For healthcare professionals, ensuring that every patient receives and understands this information can take considerable time. A new partnership between Rayner and Promptly aims to make this process easier through artificial intelligence and connected clinic software.

British ophthalmic medical product manufacturer Rayner has partnered with US-based healthcare technology company Promptly to integrate eyejourney, Rayner’s digital patient education platform, into Promptly’s Patient Experience Suite. Announced in October 2026, the collaboration is designed to help ophthalmology clinics in the United States provide patients with information and support throughout their treatment journey.

The key feature of the integration is automatic patient enrollment. When a patient enters a participating clinic’s software system, the information can trigger enrollment in EyeJourney without requiring staff to complete an additional manual process. The integration is designed to fit into existing clinic workflows, helping teams reduce repetitive administrative tasks.

Eyejourney was introduced in February 2026 by Innoptix, Rayner’s digital arm. The platform focuses on keeping patients informed from their first consultation through surgery and recovery. Patients can access it through mobile devices and iPads, while clinics can use a dedicated portal to manage educational content and monitor engagement.

Eyejourney combines digital education with automated communication tools. Patients can access videos, articles, and podcasts explaining procedures, recovery expectations, and common concerns. The platform also supports personalized messages, medication reminders, digital consent information, and AI generated videos.

These features are intended to help patients understand what to expect before and after a procedure. Timely reminders can reinforce instructions provided by healthcare professionals, while educational materials give patients an opportunity to review information outside the consultation room.

For clinic teams, a digital dashboard provides an overview of patient engagement, including onboarding progress, completion of educational materials, and medication adherence. This visibility can help staff identify patients who may need additional guidance.

Promptly contributes the clinic software infrastructure behind the integration. Its Patient Experience Suite supports functions such as appointment scheduling, digital patient intake, communication, insurance verification, referral management, and payments. Connecting eyejourney with this system brings patient education into a broader digital workflow.

The partnership is intended to reduce administrative pressure on ophthalmology clinics while creating a more organized patient experience. Automating enrollment and routine communication may give staff more time to focus on patient questions and clinical responsibilities.

Previous information shared about eyejourney has highlighted the potential to reduce consultation and chair time by up to 40%. However, actual results may vary depending on the clinic, patient population, and how the technology is implemented.

As healthcare providers increasingly adopt digital tools, integrated platforms are becoming an important part of modern eye care. Rayner and Promptly’s collaboration demonstrates how AI powered patient education and automated clinic workflows can work together to support clearer communication and more efficient operations.

The next step will be to see how clinics use the integrated system in everyday practice and whether it delivers measurable improvements in patient engagement and staff efficiency.
